Welcome
Vardagsbruk wishes to inspire you to joyful gatherings with modern and handy utilities for your ready made table.
Swedish design stands for values like high quality and well through-out functionality, as well as appearance. Vardagsbruk is a designing company which possesses great skill about the design process, material and manufacturing.
Behind each object there is a conviction that each and every one should have functional things in which they have a personal relationship and to enrich their everyday life. Things get their own life by becoming companions through life, and by their individuality they have not only a function, but they become a special part of our traditions in a set as well as alone – durable for generations
The Symbol
The unique flower, called Sjustjärna, has inspired us to use it as the symbol for Vardagsbruk. Skogsstjärna (“Star of the Forest”) as it is also called, is unique with its seven uniform petals. Each petal represents to us a weekday in the everyday life for all eternity.

One Moment’s Reflection
The story about Vardagsbruk begins over 30 years ago at the fishery of Ida Kristensson, in a little place called Barsebäckshamn (about 3.5 kmnorth of Malmoe). Ida’s grandchildren, Gustav and his three brothers and sisters often came to visit their grandmother. They played in the big garden which always had plenty of vegetables and flowers, and helped their grandmother to weed and to pick the fruit. When finished working, grandmother Ida had always purchased fresh-caught plaice or codfish from the local fisherman in the harbour and the children were then served a scrumptious meal.
At grandma Ida’s there was also lots of pottery which she had received from her good friend Albert Elfstrand, a potter she had gotten to know earlier in her life. There were cups, plates, candles and crawfish plates – an immense quantity of exciting goods that made quite an impression on the children as they enjoyed their meals. The colours, the forms and the feel in the material inspired young Gustav.
Grandma Ida often used the cups for everyday purposes, but some goods were only brought out for special occasions; for example the candle, which had its place on the Christmas table every year, or the crawfish plate for the Crawfish Party.
From the reflection and memory of all the special moments family and friends spent together using this pottery; an idea grew that formed the basis of Vardagsbruk.

Jury statement: A CERAMIC FRIEND ON THE TABLE, sober and commonplace in the spirit. The receptive language of form in the tea and coffee sets Half past seven, is durable for the eye and connects back to 1950 century wise staple, which Höganäs tableware and Hertha Bengtson Boil blue for Rörstrand. But the surface ”lathe stripes” and the little square handles give a subtle touch of high tech. Nice.
